Today, companies of all types and sizes invest time and money in their Software as a Service (SaaS) product design. Customizing and updating your website and mobile app continuously according to the market trends and users’ needs can surely increase the amount of audience significantly. In SaaS product design, user interface and experience can make the user of your SaaS product stay. Here, we have listed 5 best practices in UI/UX design that are vital and best for designing a SaaS product.

1. Permit fast and easy sign-up/sign-in process

Ask for the only relevant and most important information from your users. Because more you ask the higher the chances that, you may lose them before even they complete the registration form. It is best to ask for just an email and a password. Enabling sign-in through an existing account like Google or any popular social networking sites is a suitable option.

2. Offer an intuitive navigation

Despite how feature-rich or unique your SaaS product is, your users shouldn’t be confused or puzzled by its design. Even if you need to design your software beyond the standardized menus, always try to provide what the users are already familiar with and try to fit your ideas in a brief navigation bar with less than 10 main highlights of your functionality.

You should also structure your drop-down menu properly facilitating a new visitor to find what they need quickly. Make sure that all your drop down items are placed exactly where visitors expect to find them.

3. Consider a mobile app

While designing your responsive SaaS design, it is better to develop a complementing mobile app. An app for mobile usually facilitates better performance and a more controlled UI. It will also help to improve retention since most users are more likely to opt for an app than a browser bookmark. If there is no plan of developing an app in the near future, then allow the users to add a ‘shortcut’. It will look and perform similarly to a regular app, but there will be no data installed on a user’s device.

4. Provide customization options

In a SaaS product, tastes, preferences and physical abilities vary widely among the users. This makes it important for you to offer rich customization options to your potential users. Offer facility for different font sizes and ensure that users can lower the brightness of your intensive colors added to your product. Introducing a night-view’ option for your user base in your product can be useful.

5. Keep it simple

You should keep features of your product simple allowing your users to use them easily. The features should work in a self-explanatory manner. If you think that your users will require a short tutorial for any of feature then consider to redesign it in a much simpler way. Your users should be able to understand and use the feature without taking any tutorial help.

Considering these practices while designing a SaaS product, you can offer the best product to your user base.
